Upcoming Pokémon Titles For The 3DS eShop

You may, or may not be a fan of it. Fan or not, chances are likely that you've heard something related to "Pokémon" at some point within the past year. Maybe you're a parent of a young child, who constantly reminds you of the word, or a member gaming community. Heck, you might even have a job where you hear the "nerds" talking about it during every smoke or coffee break. For us here at Nintendo Nerds, we not only like Pokémon, we love it. In fact, we love it so much we've decided to shed a bit of light on the new Pokémon applications for the 3DS, scheduled to surface in the very near future.

"Enough with all this excessive chit chat. Bring forth the Pokémon information!"

First of all, there are two new Pokémon applications on the horizon for the 3DS. Japan will receive Pokémon AR Searcher and Pokémon National Pokédex Pro, while North America will receive Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro. Japan's Pokémon AR Searcher application is equivalent to North America's Pokémon Dream Radar application and Japan's Pokémon National Pokédex Pro application is equivalent to North America's Pokédex 3D Pro application.

In Japan, Pokémon AR Searcher will be released alongside the debut of Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, on June 23rd, 2012 for ¥300 Japanese Yen (approximately $3.78 US Dollars) and Pokémon National Pokédex Pro will be released on July 14th, 2012 for ¥1,500 Japanese Yen (approximately $18.89 US Dollars). Please note that these are the current approximate Japanese Yen to US Dollar conversation rates.

In North America, Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro will be released later this Fall. No pricing information has been released for North America, but I'm sure we can expect to see a similar pricing plan.

In case I've confused anyone...

Japan - Pokémon AR Searcher and Pokémon National Pokédex Pro

North America - Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro

Pokémon Dream Radar uses the Augmented Reality (AR) and motion-controlled technology of the 3DS, allowing you track down and catch virtual Pokémon! You can find many Pokémon in Pokémon Dream Radar, including exclusive Pokémon that are otherwise very hard to obtain elsewhere. You can transfer the captured Pokémon to your copy of Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2, giving you even more options to complete your Pokédex!

With Pokédex 3D Pro, you’ll now have information for every Pokémon in the history of the series. This is a new improvement over the existing Pokédex 3D, where only the Pokémon of the Unova region are available. If you're thinking about purchasing the Pokémon Black Version 2 or Pokémon White Version 2 games, this new and improved application is sure to further enhance your knowledge of Pokémon and make you a more well-rounded trainer!

Goodbye, Aqua Blue 3DS

Nintendo of Japan have recently announced that their Aqua Blue 3DS will no longer be manufactured. While there is still no exact date that Nintendo of Japan will retire their Aqua Blue 3DS, its fate is sealed. Nintendo of America have made no announcement in press, nor their official website. In fact, a Nintendo of America representative, when asked, said:

“We have nothing to announce about the Aqua Blue Nintendo 3DS in our territory at this time.”

So if you're wanting to grab one of these, now might be the right time to do so. Even if Nintendo of America does plan to cease production of their Aqua Blue 3DS, I'm sure we'll all have enough time to purchase one if we want.

Reports are surfacing that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be available for download in the eShop, in addition to being sold in retail, but unfortunately it appears prices will remain the same.
Is Now the Best Time to Get a 3DS?

Today, Nintendo confirmed that the recent price cut for the 3DS, is putting the company at a loss. During the company's earning report, Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's President, stated "its hardware has been sold below cost because of its significant price cut in the fiscal year ended March 31,2012," Then he proceeded to state "Nintendo expects to cease selling it below cost by the middle of the fiscal year March 31, 2013."

With that last statement, it sounds like Nintendo is planning on a price increase in the near future. How much or an exact date is still up in the air, but none the less it seems like a great time to take advantage of the current price, and grab your own handheld 3D device.

Do you think it is a smart move to increase the price? Let us know in the comments below.

Animal Crossing Makes A Splash This Fall

Announced a few days ago during Nintendo Direct, Japanese 3DS owners will see the newest Animal Crossing title make landfall this Autumn. It will also be released this year in Europe and North America, after the Japanese release. Titled in Japan as Tobidase Dobutsu no Mor, or Animal Crossing: Jump Out, this newest installment is one that many of us are looking forward to.
Iwata didn't leave us many new details during this months Nintendo Direct, but at least we have a release window. Players will be able to take on the role as the town mayor, have a lot more control over personal customizations, and even visit a new shop, Kicks' Show Shop.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this title. Are you?

New Super Mario Bros. 2 Announced

Earlier today, Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata, made an announcement that put a lot of our speculations to rest. This August (yes, this year), New Super Mario Bros. 2 will be released in Japan and North America for the Nintendo 3DS. Mario's newest adventure is a 2D, direct sequel to the 2006 hit New Super Mario Bros., for the Nintendo DS.

Although no gameplay footage was revealed during the conference, there were several screenshots shown, which displayed some pretty neat stuff. In one of the screenshots, for instance, Raccoon Mario is shown flying through the air. Noteworthy to this image was the power meter, (for flying) shown in the lower-left part of the screenshot. Perhaps we'll see the P-Wing make a return. Also, in another screenshot, Mario is seen charging through a stage while golden, yes golden. This is definitely something new to the franchise. I'm dying to learn more about that. Other interesting details revealed in the screenshots were golden Piranha Plants and Koopa Troopas, and climbable spider webs.

The different screenshots can be seen here, via Esuteru.
Banpresto is best known for its development of the tactical role-playing games in the Super Robot Wars franchise.
Amazon of France has just added a release date for the much-anticipated Animal Crossing for the 3DS. According to the website, Animal Crossing is supposed to be released on September 28th.
GameStop First Retailer To Offer eShop Titles

Here's something brand-new and very interesting! Video game and entertainment software retailer GameStop, is now offering Nintendo 3DS eShop content. GameStop is the very first retailer to offer eShop titles via their website. Now, you're not just limited to purchasing eShop titles through your 3DS console. While their online eShop library only offers two titles at the moment, Pushmo and Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, this is a huge step in the right direction for Nintendo.

Pricing is exactly the same as it would be if you purchased directly through the eShop. What an absolutely perfect chance for everyone to make use of all those GameStop gift cards they've been storing in their wallets for years. In fact, I used mine to purchase Pushmo about five minutes before writing this article.

It's uncertain why these two titles were the first ones to be picked for GameStop's online showcase. Pushmo is, by far, one of the most popular 3D software titles in the eShop with an average rating of 5/5 and nearly 10,000 votes. As for Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, I'm sure that title was picked because it's a popular Mario title. I'll be keeping a lookout on GameStop's website for more looming eShop titles.

The process is very simple to use. Simply put, just click on whatever title you want, add it to your cart and check out. You can either use a credit card or a gift card. Additionally, you can even use your GameStop PowerUp Rewards card if you have one of those. Once you're all checked out, you'll receive a special download code, as shown in the image below. Don't bother trying to use mine; I already used it.

I'm excited to see that we're not just limited to purchasing content directly from the eShop. I think, with the added flexibility, there will be a wide variety of purchasing options in the coming days. Thanks, Nintendo for making our lives a bit more easier and fun.
