Wii U GamePad Has Accessory Connector

Per the Wii U instruction manual, the Wii U GamePad has an accessory connector snuggled in between the two charging terminals. To date, we haven't heard any information on this aspect of the Wii U GamePad hardware. Could Nintendo have designed the Wii U GamePad with the intentions of having future use for some type of transfer pack or connection between the 3DS?

What do you think about his?

hmm. interesting. It's hard to tell, but is that the bottom of the gamepad? And while I hope for 3DS connectivity on at least a system level (independent of games), I kinda hope they go the wireless route using spotpass or local wireless. I dont see the need for a cable now that controller ports are gone.

As for my best guess what the accessory connector is for, headset or new Wii U Zapper gun.

This connector seems pretty large for a headset...why would Nintendo give up the "classic" 3,5 mm jack for something like this?
On the other hand, I think a possible connection between the gamepad and a 3DS could be realised in a more elegant way rather than via cables. Using the wi-fi module.
The classic controller thant comes with the black ZombieU pack...how does it connect to the console? Wired or wireless?

The Wii U has absolutely no connection points for that kind of headset, Botond. Currently, you need to connect a USB headset to the system itself in order to partake in in-game voice chat.

I say the Wii U Zapper gun is one of the purposes of this; however I am sure that is not all. It would be interesting to see what else comes of this.
