I thought of a suggestion for this feature, but I'm not sure if it's possible.  I don't think it would be too hard to code though.  I think it should have a +/- sign next to the user and the defualt be the -.  Once you add someone to your 3DS, you click the - to make it a + and the system will send the user an automatic PM saying "Username - This user has just added you to their 3DS.  Be sure to add them back so that you can play games and send messages to each other."

This would make things really simple for anyone that might just join up and use this feature to get listed.

One would think something like that is simple. I mean, yes, the concept sounds simple but the fact is that it's fairly involved and would take some time. I like the idea and I agree that it would be a nice addition to what we already have. In the meantime, however, the "PM this member" button, along with a quick blurb stating that your added said person works great. Also, the "Add as friend" button is handy as well.

My main focus right now is to wait until [stable] updated versions for my software are released. Once released, I'll upgrade us and implement a few additional goodies, perhaps this one as well. Until then though, I'm waiting for the new upcoming releases. I've been doing this long enough to know not to jump on the "Oh look, a new version! Let's upgrade!!" band wagon. It's not fair to you guys and I certainly don't enjoy doing additional work. Will there always be little quirky things that need fixed? Yeah, sure there will be but I'd rather wait until most of them are fixed. What I do enjoy though, is seeing bugs surface and watching them get fixed.

Thanks for the solid feedback.
Just wanting to make a small update...

Team management members myself, Chris, and DarthArk have concluded that our 3DS Friend Codes listing tends to be taken for granted (I can't think of a better way to put that) a bit. Our listing is, quite literally, the 12th link in Google for the search term "3DS Friend Codes." I never imagined that our listing would rank so high, that quickly. With that, comes a lot of traffic to the listing. Many members will sign up only to add their 3DS Friend Code. This is fine; that's why it's here.

What I will say though, is that many of these members are showing little or no interest in the other aspect we have; our fine community. I've spent the time and money getting that feature created so it's been decided that these members give at least three posts in order to use the PM system. The PM system, if you're wondering, is used quite frequently via the 3DS Friend Codes listing to contact other members for Friend Code exchange.

Sometimes, that can be a bit intrusive to those who only wish to share Friend Codes with those who they know in the community. With this new and simple change, we're hoping that new joins will not only see our 3DS Friend Codes listing as a great way to make new friends but also see that we have a great little community and participate with the rest of us in our discussions.
Thank you sir I was wondering why I couldnot use the PM feature!

Not a problem, SCRUBALINI. That sure is a funny name by the way. Originally, we had it set up to where posts weren't required; only registration was. After a while, it became a nuisance with all the PMs everyone was receiving. We have a great community here, so making a whopping three posts isn't too much to ask for in our opinion. But if you're posting just to be able to use the 3DS Friend Codes feature, we urge you to not stop there.

Have a look around, and you'll notice that we have much more to offer than just the Friend Codes feature. We're a small community, so it's a great way to take advantage of that to get to know some of us. Our staff is great by the way. Feel free to let us know a little bit about yourself in the Welcomes and Departures forum when you get a chance.
im new to this forum too, and yes initially i was looking to get some friend codes for my new 3DS XL when i get it either on my birthday this month or christmas.  But i have had a look around and it looks like an awesome friendly place here! There's millions of info on games, consoles, peoples experience etc etc! I can't wait to get chatting to people and making new friends! Im quite a noobie when it comes to the 3DS XL so i'll prob be looking for some chat about it and games to buy for it when i finally get it.  And im sure people on here will be able to help me out :)

Welcome to Nintendo Nerds. That great that you're getting a new 3DX XL soon. You'll have no problem making new friends here, just be patient and active around the community. It's easier for members to get to know you better. Thanks for the kind words about us. We try our best to provide as much information to our community as possible.

Also, I'm not sure if you saw this or not, but Best Buy (not sure about Europe) is selling the 3DS XL, with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed, for $159.99.
