Meet Your Generation VI (6) Starter Pokémon

I prefer Fynx instead Fennekin
And I'd say its based on a Fennek

I love "Keromatsu" more than "Froakie", TBH. But Fennekin is a cute name. I can already tell that Fennekin will be what most everyone picks out of the three starters though.

Can someone tell me what animal Chespin is based off of? It is cute but I am confused.

Also, I would like to hear what people think are going to be the types? Single or Dual types? I hope that Fire type stays pure. I do not want another Fire/Fighting. The Grass type already seems like it could be Grass/Normal. We only have Deerling and Sawsbuck that type so I am not against it. The Water type already looks like it may become a mix of Water/Ice though I am kind of over that match up already.

I'm sorta leaning towards Fire/Ground for Fennekin. I don't really see anything else for its evolutions, but I can always be wrong. i honestly have no idea for the other two, nor what Chespin is actually supposed to be.

I always pick the fire starter! Im relieved that it made me squeal when I saw it hahahah! I want a fire steel type other than heatran!!!!!!!!! But omg new pokemon!! Im so totally ready for a 3d adventure! I wonder why they decided to use letters instead of colors??? I love it all so far though!

My guess is that it's inspired by the three axes; X, Y, and Z(assuming a third game); of the third dimension, symbolizing the jump to 3DS.

The only problem is that I can't wait until October, lol. X_X

Pretty sure Chespin is a hedgehog and a chestnut, analyzing its other names

Marisson probably comes from marron (French for chestnut) and hérisson (French for hedgehog)
Igamaro probably comes from Igel (German for hedgehog) and again marron
and then there's the "pin" part of its English name, and "ches" obviously from chestnus.
Its Japanese name is Harimaron (harinezumi = Japanese for hedgehog)

I love Chespin! I always start with the grass-type, such is my love for grass-types. It's probably because I love plants in real life.

(Admittedly, I started Pokémon White 2 with Tepig because pigs are cute too and I wanted a change to keep things interesting...)

It's strange because all of the grass-starters up until now have been reptile/amphibian/dinosaur-inspired. I think at some point (4th gen, or 3rd maybe?) grass-types who were more forest-animal inspired began to trickle in. Now we have a cute starter, grass-type lovers! Diversity is great.

See I'll be choosing Froakie, going on just its physical attributes I would say (and God I hope this is true) its a Water/Psychic. Why? Well it is obviously a water type, no more needs to be said there. But psychic, the hand by its temple, a well-known position for psychics in many cultures. Also the bubble's look to me as if they are like long hair at the back and a short moustache and beard, typically associated with wise/mystics, so probably represented by psychic types.

I think Fennekin will be a Fire/Dark type, as foxes are nocturnal and also sly, an attribute given to foxes in all cultures!

And Chespin I think will be a Grass/Fighting type! It's a hedgehog based one so maybe it'll use leaf blade/spine crossovers as "weapons?"

That kind of puts Froakie at a disadvantage, though, given that Dark is immune to Psychic.

No as Water beats Fire?
It makes an interestingly even playing field not based on stats this time too, and a complete rota of types:
Water -> Fire, Fire -> Grass and Grass -> Water.
Then the secondary types:
Psychic (Froakie) -> Fighting (Chespin), Fighting -> Dark (Fennekin) and Dark -> Psychic.

Oh, right. Yeah, that makes sense. Brain fart on my part.

It's certainly possible, and really cool if it turns out to be true.(Personally, I'm hoping that Fennekin will become Fire/Psychic, though.)

However, this image leads me to believe that Froakie's second type may be Ice.

In terms of that image, could that not just be Ice Beam? It hasn't changed that much in ages, so they could be highlighting drastic changes to move looks? And most water types can use ice type moves can't they? Swampert who had nothing to do with ice certainly could!

Absolutely. I think that Nintendo might be dropping us a subtle hint, though. Fennekin's non-STAB attack looked like it may have been Psychic(I forget what Chespin's was).

Damn I love Water types, and Psychic is my second favourite... I really hope it is that combo
Froakie's looked like it might have been Mach Punch or Close Combat Fennekin's did look like Psychic, although it came out of its mouth, so it could be some stat affecting one? (Grabbing at straws here). Chespin's was Solarbeam and what looked like Nightslash...
I was so hopeful because of the way they looked!

My predictions for the Starters are as follows:
Chespin: Grass/ Dark
Fennekin: Fire/ Psychic
Froakie: Water/ Fighting

Also, I'll just leave this here for now...

And yeah I saw that pic! But that would suggest Fire/Normal would it not?
